Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. —Deuteronomy 6:4-7 NIV
In Discipleship got its start in 2002 as Kids In Discipleship (K.I.D.), a ministry of the Collegedale Seventh-day Adventist Church, and later transitioned to the Georgia-Cumberland Conference of Seventh-day Adventists in May of 2011. K.I.D. continues to make up the core of In Discipleship.
In Discipleship recognizes the need for disciples of all ages, and is dedicated to equipping children, youth and adults with the tools they need to nurture a personal, meaningful and fruitful relationship with Jesus Christ.
In Discipleship offers tuition-free training and coaching to grow disciples of Christ. These materials are available to any denomination, race and people group.
SOME OF THE TEAM
Don’s top four roles in his life are: a disciple of Jesus Christ, a husband to his wife April, a daddy and life mentor to their three children, and visionary leader in discipling children and families to Christ. Don has celebrated over 21 years with April and they have served God together in pastoral ministry for most of those years. In 2002, Don founded Kids In Discipleship as a pastor at the Collegedale Seventh-day Adventist Church. He now serves as the President of In Discipleship. Don is passionate about family, the discipleship of children and their parents and the leadership development of those who are called by God to champion these priorities.
George says - I grew up in a Christian home but for nearly forty years I lived in a different world, one without God yet in His love and mercy He brought me back. Now that I am in His fold again what a blessing it is.
Prior to moving to Clovis, California I was living in Manassas Virginia, where I got re-baptized in November 2009. Quite unlike my previous life where everything was done for money, God led me to community service.
I volunteered in homeless shelters, homes for battered women and transition homes for the homeless. In addition as part of my training God got me involved with my local church. I became a deacon, then an elder and then property/project manager for the church and church school, managing a major school renovation project over a two-year period.
Prior to 2009 I had worked as a consultant in the public sector for over thirty years providing financial advisory and accounting support services. Clients have included; Fannie Mae, Federal Housing Administration, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, the Department of Commerce, Federal Aviation Administration and the Social Security Administration.
